Chelsea will honour newly-crowned Premier League champions Liverpool with a guard of honour at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, confirmed manager Enzo Maresca.
Liverpool clinched their 20th league title last weekend.
While not mandatory, Maresca stated it’s a “tradition” and a mark of respect his team wants to show.
He acknowledged Liverpool’s deserved victory and expressed Chelsea’s aspiration to reach that level.
Unlike their 2020 title win, Liverpool’s players will be allowed to shake hands.
Chelsea also gave Manchester City a guard of honour in 2023.
Despite Liverpool having secured the title, Maresca expects a competitive game as Chelsea aim for a top-five finish and Champions League qualification, boosted by Nottingham Forest’s recent loss.
