Manchester City has brought in two key figures from rivals Liverpool: Pepijn Lijnders, former assistant manager to Jürgen Klopp, and James French, a vital opposition analyst.
Lijnders, instrumental in Liverpool’s Champions League and Premier League triumphs, joins as assistant manager, while French will be the new set-piece coach.
These appointments follow a trophy-less season for City and the departures of previous assistants.
City’s director of football, Hugo Viana, lauded their talent and work ethic as being “totally aligned” with Pep Guardiola’s football philosophy.
Lijnders is expected to join City for their Club World Cup campaign, starting June 18.
