URA Named Among FIFA’s Best for Club Strategy

URA has earned global recognition from FIFA after submitting one of the top two strategic plan proposals in the 2024 FIFA Club Management and Professionalisation Programme.

The Tax Collectors now join Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas as the only clubs worldwide to receive this prestigious honour.

The announcement was officially communicated to URA CEO Allan Munaaba in a letter from FIFA Senior Professional Football Manager and Development, Picalló Aguilar Marcos.

The reward includes tailored implementation support and an invitation to a high-level Club Management Network Session in New York.

The Kampala-based club impressed FIFA with a forward-thinking proposal that prioritises sustainable talent development, life-after-football support for players, and a clear integration of financial, operational, and stakeholder strategies. The vision presents a long-term sport-business model that sets a new benchmark for club development in Uganda.

URA developed and submitted the plan during a nationwide programme that required every Uganda Premier League club to outline a growth strategy.

Their proposal stood out for its depth and clarity, especially in linking grassroots development with professional systems.

URA CEO Allan Munaaba thanked the club’s key supporters and stakeholders, including the Government of Uganda, the Commissioner General—who also serves as club Patron—and the wider football community.

“This award is for everyone,” he said. “Our players, coaches, staff, fans, and all taxpayers who back this club.”
