Top tier national rugby 7s will be played in Kawuku for the first time ever when the Plascon Entebbe 7s tournament gets underway from August 23-24.
Sai Pali Institute of Technology & Management, five kilometres off the Entebbe Highway in Kawuku, will host twenty-four men’s and women’s teams in the third stop of the 2025 Nile Special Uganda Rugby 7s Series.
Pools for the men’s and women’s competitions have been drawn live on NBS Sport on Tuesday morning.
The two women’s pools are balanced while Pool B has turned out as the men’s pool of death.
Women’s Pools (non-core invitational team*):
- POOL A: Avengers, Walukuba Titans, Nile Rapids, Ewes*.
- POOL B: Thunderbirds, Black Pearls, She Wolves, Panthers*.
Men’s Pools (non-core invitational team*):
- POOL A: Buffaloes, Rams, Gulu City Falcons, Warriors*.
- POOL B: Walukuba Barbarians, KOBs, Elgon Wolves, Victoria Sharks*.
- POOL C: Rhinos, Pirates, Hippos, Impis*.
- POOL D: Mongers, Eagles, Heathens, Jaguars*.
Ewes (women) and Victoria Sharks (men) come into this tournament as the most recent Cup winners, having clinched the Central Region 7s titles at Kyadondo on Sunday.
They are joined by Panthers (women) plus Impis, Warriors and Jaguards (men) as the non-core invitational teams from the Central Region.
As the series stands, Thunderbirds and Walukuba Barbarians are on top of the women’s and men’s tables respectively.
