Oyuk Leads Try-Scoring Charts as Uganda 7s Series Heads to Entebbe

Heathens winger Julius Oyuk is the frontrunner in the 2025 Nile Special Uganda Rugby Sevens Series try-scoring charts after two rounds, according to data compiled by Isa Metrics.

Oyuk has crossed the whitewash 15 times across the Coronation and Gulu 7s, giving him a three-try cushion over Pirates’ Samwiri Kayondo, who sits second on 12.

Gulu Falcons’ Alphonse Openy follows with nine, while Buffaloes’ Daniel Otim and Heathens’ Norbert Okeny share fourth place on eight alongside Eagles’ Julius Omongin.

The breakdown from the first two tournaments shows how tightly contested the individual race has been.

Otim dominated the Coronation 7s with eight tries, ahead of Kayondo on seven and Oyuk on six. Oyuk then took control at the Gulu 7s, scoring nine to finish four clear of Openy and Kayondo.

With the Plascon Entebbe 7s set for this weekend in Kawuku, the scoring race adds another layer of intrigue.

Oyuk’s form has been pivotal to Heathens’ challenge, but Kayondo’s consistency and Openy’s emergence with Gulu Falcons ensure the chase remains wide open.

The Entebbe stop will be the third leg of the series, with standings in both team and individual categories expected to shift as the competition heats up.
