Platinum Credit Heathens and Nile Rapids steadied their campaigns in the 2025 Nile Special Uganda Rugby 7s Series with victory on the third stop at the Sai Pali Institute in Kawuku.
Heathens and Nile Rapids beat Toyota Buffaloes and Avengers respectively to win the Cup Finals in the Plascon Entebbe 7s on Sunday evening.
In the women’s competition, Nile Rapids made a successful 10-05 comeback against Avengers in extra time, courtesy of two tries from Fatuma Kirabo.
Christine Akello scored the Avengers’ lone try.
Nile Rapids had been a no-show on the first stop (Kabaka Coronation 7s at Kyadondo Rugby Club) and ranked bottom on the second stop (Gulu 7s at Pece Stadium). But now, following the resolution of the Hippos leadership scramble, they are back with a bang!
In the men’s competition, Heathens overcame Challenge Trophy blues to claim the Cup Final. Heathens took Buffaloes apart by 17-07 through tries by Julius Oyuk, Denis Etwau and Sulaiman Ngobi.
Daniel Otim scored the Buffaloes’ lone try.
Heathens had lost the Kabaka Coronation 7s Cup final and then dropped to the Challenge Trophy in the Gulu 7s. But now, with maximum points from Entebbe, they are back in the title fight.
