Uganda Bags Silver And Two Bronze at Beach Woodball World Cup

Uganda closed the 2025 Beach Woodball World Cup in Thailand with three medals after a competitive three-day tournament at Laem Charoen Beach.

Thomas Khedi delivered the team’s biggest result with silver in the men’s singles, while Jackie Naula won bronze in the women’s singles and later combined with Christine Birungi for another bronze in the women’s doubles.

Khedi came close to gold after pushing Thailand’s Chaisongkram Peera to a decider. The two were level 3–3 after six fairways before Peera edged it at the last shot. Khedi said his narrow defeat came down to misfortune.

“It was a tough fight. I tried my best but luck was not on our side. I wanted to set the ball and go for a three, but my opponent attacked and luck was on his side to score through the glass,” he said. “I thank God for the silver and I will go back home to focus on improving the areas as I prepare for next tournaments both local and international.”

Uganda Woodball Federation President Paul Mark Kayongo described the performance as a success, pointing to the level of competition from established teams.

“Winning three medals in the tournament of over eight Woodball power house teams is not easy and I salute the team for their performance,” he said.

The World Cup featured teams from Nepal, Hongkong, China-Japan, Chinese Taipei, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia, Uganda and hosts Thailand.
