FC Barcelona’s return to the Camp Nou this Saturday against Athletic Club will happen without visiting supporters.
The club informed Athletic Club they cannot allocate away tickets, citing safety limitations under the stadium’s temporary Phase 1B operating license.
The partial reopening, which authorizes 45,401 seats, is complicated by ongoing renovations that prevent safe fan segregation.
Barca specified that the partially rebuilt stands lack “sufficient physical sectorisation” and the access points are “non-independent.”
This means the club cannot guarantee separate entry/exit routes or safely isolate the visiting sector as required by safety regulations.
Barcelona’s first competitive fixture at home since May 2023 is a symbolic moment, but the restriction highlights the regulatory hurdles of using the stadium while the massive €900 million redevelopment project continues.
The club must complete sectorisation work to obtain the next license phase before away fans can be readmitted.
