Real Madrid have apologized after mistakenly using the image of the wrong player in an institutional video paying tribute to the late Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva.
The video, shown at the club’s general assembly, featured a photo of Elche and Portugal forward Andre da Silva, 30, instead of Jota’s younger brother, Andre Silva (25), a former Penafiel player.
Jota (28) and his brother died in a car crash in July 2025.
Real Madrid released a statement on X apologizing to Elche CF and its player: “Real Madrid CF apologizes to Elche CF and its player André da Silva for having mistakenly included his image in the obituary… We regret this incident.”
The wrongly featured Andre da Silva, an Elche striker, was a former teammate of Diogo Jota at Porto.
