Max Verstappen’s race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase will leave Red Bull and take up a senior role at McLaren from 2028.
The 45‑year‑old, who has worked with Verstappen since 2016 and helped deliver four world titles, is expected to become head of race engineering after a period of gardening leave.
His exit is a major blow to Verstappen, who has previously said he would not continue in F1 without Lambiase.
McLaren, reigning champions with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, strengthen further with the addition, while Andrea Stella remains team principal.
