Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards have stepped up their interest in highly-rated Ugandan striker Ambrose Kigozi following his impressive breakthrough campaign with Entebbe UPPC.
Per Swift Sports, the Nairobi-based outfit is keen on bolstering its attacking department ahead of the new season and has identified Kigozi as one of the leading targets. The club’s recruitment team is said to be closely monitoring the striker’s situation after a productive season in the Uganda Premier League.
Kigozi enjoyed a dream debut season in the top flight under coach Abdallah Mubiru, emerging as one of Entebbe UPPC’s standout performers. The forward found the back of the net 12 times in league action, attracting attention from clubs within and beyond Uganda.
Before making his mark in the premier division, Kigozi had already built a reputation as a prolific attacker while featuring for Kiyinda Boys. During the 2024/25 campaign, he registered an impressive return of 13 goals and five assists, performances that paved the way for his rise to the top tier.
AFC Leopards are no strangers to Ugandan talent. The club currently boasts the services of former Express FC, KCCA FC, Wakiso Giants FC and Bright Stars FC forward Samuel Ssenyonjo, who moved to Kenya in September last year.
Ugandan goalkeeper James Ssetuba is also part of the AFC Leopards squad, further strengthening the club’s East African connection.
The Leopards wrapped up the recently concluded Kenyan Premier League season in second place, collecting 64 points from 34 matches, and are now looking to reinforce their squad as they seek to mount a stronger title challenge next term.
