Iran’s football team has received visas to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, US officials confirmed.
The clearance comes just days before their opener against New Zealand in Los Angeles on 15 June. Washington stressed that athletes and staff were approved but warned no one linked to the Revolutionary Guards would be admitted.

Iran had shifted training to Mexico last month amid delays, with reports that some staff were still waiting for visas.
The World Cup begins 11 June across the US, Canada and Mexico, marking the first time a host nation welcomes a team from a country it is at war with.
