Serena Williams is back on court at Queen’s after nearly four years away, insisting she has “nothing to prove.” The 23‑time Grand Slam champion, 44, will play doubles with Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko, saying her comeback is about letting daughters Olympia and Adira see her compete.
“I don’t need to win. I’ve won more than most people have in their whole lives,” she said. Williams has also entered doubles in Berlin and hinted singles could follow, though not immediately.
Former champions Lindsay Davenport and Angelique Kerber believe her mindset and fitness could still make an impact, while Mboko praised her “clean ball striking.” Williams last won a major in 2017 but returns leaner and, according to Davenport, “in better shape than when she left.”
