Day Two of the Great Lakes Men’s T20 at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Saturday, June 13, 2026 produced a gripping double header, with Kyoga Avengers claiming a hard fought win over Victoria Strikers before Mburo Blasters produced a record breaking chase inspired by a breathtaking century from captain Riazat Ali Shah.
The morning fixture saw Kyoga Avengers edge Victoria Strikers by 13 runs in a tense low scoring contest shaped by disciplined bowling and early collapse pressure.
Kyoga posted 129 all out in 18.5 overs after mixed contributions, with Ronald Lutaaya providing early intent through a rapid 27 off 10 balls and Ismail Munir anchoring the innings with a steady 34 off 29 deliveries. Victoria Strikers responded strongly with the ball, as Pius Oloka claimed four wickets and Christopher Kidega added three, repeatedly breaking partnerships before they could develop.
In reply, Victoria Strikers suffered a disastrous start, losing three wickets for just one run in the opening over, a setback that immediately tilted the match. Perry Wazombe fought back with a determined 59 off 60 balls and Ahurra Amos added 20, but the required tempo never materialised under constant pressure from the Kyoga attack.
Juma Miyaji and Gerald Olipa both struck twice as Victoria were restricted to 116 for 9 in 18.5 overs, handing Kyoga a deserved opening victory. Munir’s all round influence earned him Player of the Match.
The afternoon encounter between Bunyonyi Warriors and Mburo Blasters delivered a completely different spectacle, as more than 440 runs were scored in a match dominated by explosive batting. Bunyonyi set a daunting target of 221 for 5 after a powerful innings led by Obuya Robinson, who smashed 87 off just 38 balls with six fours and eight sixes.
Paul Mulongo supported with 49 off 30 deliveries while Anas Baig added a quick 20, before late hitting from Alijuna Fortunate and Kyewuta Cosmas pushed the total beyond 220 despite three wickets from David Wabwire and two from captain Riazat Ali Shah.
What followed was one of the most destructive chases in the competition’s history. Mburo Blasters made an early inroad through Fahad Mutagana’s 21 off nine balls, but the game was taken away by a stunning partnership between Charles Musemeza and Riazat Ali Shah. The pair added an unbroken 184 runs and tore through the bowling attack with relentless power and timing.
Musemeza finished unbeaten on 85 off 45 balls while Riazat produced a sensational 100 not out from just 38 deliveries, striking ten sixes in a dominant display that left the opposition with no response.
Mburo reached 222 for 1 in just 15.2 overs to complete a nine wicket victory and secure one of the fastest successful chases of the tournament. Riazat’s extraordinary innings earned him Player of the Match and strengthened Mburo Blasters’ position near the top of the standings alongside Kyoga Avengers, both on three points after two days, while Victoria Strikers remain winless.
Sunday’s fixtures on June 14 see Bunyonyi Warriors face Kyoga Avengers in the morning before Victoria Strikers take on Mburo Blasters in the afternoon.
