The NCBA Golf Series delivered a competitive opening leg in its 2026 season at Uganda Golf Club on 13 June, with Joseph Cwinyai emerging as the standout performer after posting a brilliant 70 gross to claim the overall Division 1 title.
Cwinyai’s consistent round earned him the top men’s honour as well, underlining a commanding display in the elite category. In the ladies’ overall standings, Marther Babirye secured victory with a solid 77 gross, holding her nerve to stay ahead in a tightly contested field. John Musiimenta finished as men’s runner up with 71 gross, while Judith Komugisha took second place among the ladies after returning 80 gross.
The battle for third and fourth in Division 1 also produced close margins, with Gilbert Asiimwe edging into third place on countback after matching a 75 gross score, while Aggrey Mutaka also finished on 75 gross in fourth.
In Division 2, Ashwin Patel produced one of the standout net performances of the day, carding 62 nett to win the men’s category, while Zhang Fangyi took the ladies’ title with 68 nett. The Division 3 crown went to Oola Peter, who returned 70 nett to secure top spot in his category.
The special categories also produced notable performances across the field. Junior golfer Sean Kusaasira Nsereko claimed the junior title with 80 gross, while Raymond Ekwamu impressed in the guest category with 66 nett. Among the staff entries, Olivia Nakuya secured victory with 68 nett.
The results highlighted the depth of competition across all divisions as the NCBA Golf Series continues to position itself as a key platform for amateur golf talent in the region, bringing together players of different levels in a high intensity but developmental environment.
