Uganda’s U-17 women’s national team, the Teen Cranes, sealed their place in the semi-finals of the CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship 2026 in Tanzania with a commanding 3-0 victory over Zanzibar on Tuesday.
The win marked Uganda’s second straight triumph, reinforcing their title credentials and guaranteeing progression to the knockout stage with a game to spare.
After a tightly contested opening half, Uganda broke the deadlock in the 44th minute when midfielder Shadia Nabirye struck to give the Teen Cranes a deserved lead at the interval.
The East Africans returned after halftime with renewed energy and doubled their advantage in the 58th minute. Immaculate Acen finished calmly after being set up by Nabirye, capping a slick attacking move that exposed Zanzibar’s defence.
Uganda continued to dictate play and sealed the result in the final minute when Justine Ayerango added a third goal, rounding off an impressive individual performance.
The emphatic victory means the Teen Cranes have now recorded two wins from two matches, securing their semi-final berth in style.
