The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has rolled out a nationwide campaign inviting Ugandans to design the next Uganda Cranes jersey, a landmark initiative that hands fans a direct role in shaping the team’s identity.
Unveiled in partnership with MTN Uganda, the campaign calls on supporters across the country to submit creative designs, with the winning concept set to become the official Cranes kit. It forms part of the wider “Free Your Fayaaa – Tulage Waaka” drive aimed at deepening fan engagement and strengthening the emotional bond between the national team and its followers.
FUFA First Vice President Justus Mugisha said the project reflects a new era of ownership and pride: “Together with our partner MTN Uganda, we thought it wise that the jersey, which is also the greatest symbol of the Uganda Cranes, should be designed by the fans themselves.”
MTN Uganda’s Manager Sponsorships & Events, John Paul Okwi, underscored the long-standing partnership with FUFA: “We have, for the last couple of years, been on a journey together with our partners FUFA, and we would like to thank them for the trust that they have invested in MTN, along other campaigns, together with what we are launching today.”
FUFA CEO Edgar Watson emphasized the role of creativity in football culture, noting: “Everything we see was once an idea.”
The grand prize winner will receive UGX 50 million, with FUFA rewarding the most creative and representative design that captures the spirit, heritage, and pride of Ugandan football. Submissions will be reviewed by a joint panel, and the chosen design will be adopted as the official Uganda Cranes jersey for upcoming fixtures.
