Uganda’s rugby community has been thrown into shock after Emmanuel Drama Fudribo, a long serving administrator and club official, was rushed into intensive care following a sudden burst brain artery. He is currently receiving critical treatment at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala as doctors work to stabilise his condition.
The appeal for urgent support has been issued jointly by his family and the rugby fraternity, calling on friends, colleagues and well wishers to rally behind a man widely respected for his years of service to the game. Fudribo, known across social media as @fudrama, has built a reputation as a passionate promoter of rugby and a tireless behind the scenes organiser.
Over the years, he has held several key roles within the sport. He served as Chairman of Warriors RFC from 2019 to 2022 and has since taken on the role of Head of Partnerships and Marketing at the same club. He also worked on operations for the Uganda National Sevens Series between 2021 and 2024, helping support the growth and organisation of the competition.
His influence has also been felt at major international rugby events hosted in Uganda. He has served in multiple capacities on organising committees, including Accommodation Lead for the Rugby Africa Cup Group B in 2021, Chairman of the Victoria Cup local organising committee in 2023, Chairman of the Rugby Africa Cup in 2024, and Vice Chair for the Rugby Africa Cup in 2025. He also serves on the Uganda Rugby Disciplinary Committee, a role he has held since 2022.
Now described by colleagues as a mentor and committed ambassador for the sport, Fudribo is being remembered for his dedication to building rugby structures and supporting teams and events across the country. The appeal stresses that while he has spent years supporting others, it is now time for the rugby community to stand with him and his family.
His condition has also brought a heavy financial burden, with ICU medical costs rising rapidly. His family says they are unable to shoulder the expenses alone and have called for immediate assistance from the wider rugby community and public.
Support can be sent through MTN MoMoPay 03029934 or Airtel Money 0702177690, with contributions directed to account name Pauline Driwaru.
As Uganda Rugby Union continues to coordinate the appeal, the message across the sport remains the same, a call for unity around one of its own during a critical and deeply uncertain moment.
