FUFA Super 8: Omedi’s Rabona Magic Sends Kitara to Semi-Finals

Kitara Football Club forward Denis Omedi scored a stunning rabona against KCCA FC as his club secured a place in the FUFA Super 8 semi-finals.

The thrilling encounter, which ended in a 3-3 draw, saw Kitara progressing on a 4-3 aggregate, having won the first leg 1-0.

The match will be remembered for one of the most breathtaking goals in Ugandan football history.

Omedi’s moment of brilliance came in the 9th minute, just a minute after Joel Sserunjogi had put KCCA ahead with a long-range strike.

Positioned at the edge of the box, Omedi executed a flawless rabona, sending the ball past KCCA goalkeeper Anthony Emojong into the net, levelling the score at 1-1.

The goal was not only crucial for Kitara’s comeback but is also a potential contender for the prestigious Puskas Award.

Omedi’s performance didn’t stop there. He assisted Jude Ssemugabi’s first goal in the 37th minute, which gave Kitara a 2-1 lead.

KCCA equalised through a Bright Anukani penalty in the first-half stoppage time, making it 2-2 at the break.

The second half saw more action, with Ssemugabi scoring again in the 50th minute, once again from an Omedi assist.

KCCA’s Hassan Muhamood brought the score to 3-3 with a header in the 59th minute, but the aggregate score of 4-3 ensured Kitara’s advancement to the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, Kitara will face the winner between BUL and Maroons, who face off tomorrow at the MTN Omondi Stadium at 5 pm.
