Inter D’Abidjan defied the odds to secure their place in the semi-finals of the WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
The Ivorian side staged a sensational comeback, overturning a 3-0 halftime deficit to defeat Togo’s AS Kozah 4-3 in their final group match.
AS Kozah dominated the opening half, with goals from Solim Kadanga, Tatiana Kayaba, and Kpandjapou Gbati putting them firmly in control.
However, Inter D’Abidjan emerged from the dressing room with renewed vigor and determination, launching a spirited fightback.
Esperance Cousso Agbo was the hero of the hour, completing a stunning hat-trick to bring her side level. Melissa Sandrine Behinan then sealed the remarkable victory with a fourth goal, sending the Inter D’Abidjan fans into raptures.
Despite the defeat, AS Kozah’s Ijeoma Anagha was recognized for her impressive performance in the first half, earning the Player of the Match award.
With this victory, Inter D’Abidjan finished second in Group A behind Benin’s Ainonvi FC. They will now face Group B winners, Nigeria’s Edo Queens FC, in the semi-finals on Tuesday.
The winner of that match will advance to the main CAF Women’s Champions League tournament later this year.
