A single point is standing between Women Super League champions, Kawempe Muslim Ladies and the semifinals of the CECAFA Zonal qualifiers for the 2024/25 CAF Women’s Champions League.
However, Ayub Khalifa’s charges will be aiming for maximum points when they take on South Sudan’s FAD in their final Group B game in Ethiopia on Friday.
“We didn’t lose to Simba just because they’re a stronger team but also missed a couple of chances in both halves of games,” Khalifa noted in the aftermath of the 3-0 defeat on Wednesday.
“All we need to do is to stay focused, rectify our mistakes in all the departments and go again on Friday with three points in mind.”
“We may be lacking in terms of experience, but I am very optimistic that we shall be able to advance to the semifinals and take it on from there,” he added.
The five-time Ugandan champions had won their first game 2-0 against Burundi’s PVP Buyenzi on Monday which leaves them with higher chances of reaching the last four.
A goalless draw between FAD and Buyenzi on Wednesday further lessened the task and although they’ll be going for victory, a draw should be enough for a semifinal berth.
