NBL Playoffs: Asinde Influential As JKL Restore Parity

Gazelles captain Jane Asinde was the woman of steel in JKL Lady Dolphins’ 60-53 victory over UCU Lady Canons in game four of the Women’s National Basketball League playoffs final at Lugogo on Wednesday.

She hadn’t been as influential and lethal as she was tonight in this best-of-seven-series game.

Asinde was JKL’s highest points scorer with 16 points and 14 rebounds whilst her teammate Brenda Ekone managed 10 points and five rebounds.

The victory for the defending champions ensured that they brought back this series to level terms and it’s currently standing at 2-2.

Shakirah Nanvubya and Shillah Lamunu are the two Lady Canons players that scored double digits, netting 14 points each.

Dolphins were on the front foot throughout the game leading 20-8, 33-24, 50-39, and 60-53 in the first, second, third, and fourth quarter, respectively.

Lady Canons won the first two games before Dolphins lifted themselves up to also win the next two games.

They will meet again on Friday for game five but at this stage, it will still not be enough to separate these two rivals.

Winner of this year’s Women’s championship will be determined on game six set for Sunday should either Canons or Dolphins win the next two games.

If they both pick one win from game five and six, it will go to the wire on Wednesday next week.
