KCCA’s head coach Abdallah Mubiru has proved his side’s worth to Kitara on and off the pitch in the Uganda Premier League.
Ahead of the game, Mubiru stated that Kitara is not a big team and they were just hyped and on form.
His statements shook the Kitara camp and it was the talk around town all week and the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo was filled to capacity to witness who would grab the bragging rights on Friday.
Mubiru’s charges came out top thanks to a 2-0 victory courtesy of goals from Saidi Mayanja and Derrick Nsibambi.
Mayanja broke the deadlock as early as the 11th minute assisted by youngster and electric Shafic Nana Kwikiriza.
The hosts would double their advantage before recess when Kitara goalkeeper Crispus Kusiima blundered passing the ball straight to Nsibambi.
Nsibambi with all the calmness rounded off the goalkeeper before comfortably slotting home KCCA’s second and the winner.
The striker had been a brilliant returnee in other aspects for KCCA but was still looking for his first goal on his return which finally arrived.
Victory over Kitara lifted the Kasasiro Boys to the second position on the 16-team UPL log with seven points, two a drift of table leaders NEC who are on nine points after three games.
On the other hand, the Royals have remained seventh on the table with three points after losing back-to-back games to the current top two sides NEC and KCCA.
KCCA will visit their bogey side Bright Stars at Kavumba for their next game on October 1 as Kitara will host newly promoted Police in Butema, Hoima on October 3.
