As earlier reported by this website, Uganda Cranes attacking midfielder Travis Mutyaba left the Uganda Hippos camp to complete his transfer to Europe.
NBS Sport has learnt that the 20-year-old is currently in France and his move to Bordeaux is imminent.
Mutyaba had his long-term contract with Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek terminated at the end of the 2023/24 season.
The decision to terminate with Zamalek was reached between the club and his representative with a move to Europe in sight.
Zamalek, whose transfer ban was extended until the January transfer window of 2026 agreed to terminate him because they didn’t want to close doors on such a developing player.
The Egyptian side’s ban came as a result of late wages owed to former Moroccan striker Khalid Boutaib.
Bordeaux, a team that is set to become Mutyaba’s new home plays in French National 2 – Group B.
However, they are a famous club in France and played in the French Ligue 1 and have won it six times with their last triumph coming in 2009.
The former Uganda Premier League champions’ player is now a mainstay in the Uganda Cranes squad and many believe he could be the next big thing in Ugandan football.
