Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakissha
Friday, 09-12-2022
Busoga United pulled off a stunning 3-2 victory away to Wakiso Giants on Friday at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakissha.
This was the students’ third victory of a season that is showing signs of being their last in the top flight, at least for now.
Laban Tibita who has been one of Busoga’s standout performers scored a brace while Peter Onzima netted the other goal.
For Wakiso who went behind early, they scored through Sharif Kimbowa and the in-form Ibrahim Kasule.
Busoga United came into the game on the back of three successive defeats and needed a response to arrest the poor run which they did at the unlikeliest of venues as the Purple Sharks have been good at home.
An early goal from defender Onzima offered the foundation for the rest of the game. Even when Wakiso Giants came through better in the second half and scored through Kimbowa and Kasule to take the lead by the 65th minute, Busoga United kept believing and eventually secured maximum points.
Tibita levelled matters in the 78th minute before striking a stoppage-time winner to send the few away fans into a frenzy.
The result leaves Wakiso Giants fourth on the log with 21 points while Busoga United stays second from the bottom but improve to 7 points for the campaign.
