Uganda Withdraws from 9th Woodball World Cup Due to Logistical Challenges

The Uganda Woodball Federation (UWF) has announced its decision to withdraw Uganda’s national team from the 9th Woodball World Cup, scheduled to take place in China from October 14th to 21st, 2024.

The withdrawal is attributed to logistical challenges that have prevented the team from adequately preparing for the competition.

In a statement released on Friday, UWF President Paul Mark Kayongo expressed his disappointment regarding the withdrawal.

“Despite our best efforts, we have encountered logistical hurdles that have made it impossible for us to field a competitive team at this year’s World Cup,” Kayongo stated.

“We deeply regret this decision and apologize to our players, coaches, and supporters who were looking forward to representing Uganda on the global stage.”

The withdrawal comes just days before the start of the tournament, where Uganda was expected to be a strong contender.

The team had been undergoing intensive training in preparation for the competition.

The UWF has not disclosed the specific nature of the logistical challenges that led to the withdrawal.
