Uganda Cranes Return Home After Vital Win in Juba

The Uganda Cranes have landed safely back in Uganda following their 2-1 victory over South Sudan in Juba, a win that brings them closer to qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The team arrived at Entebbe International Airport early Wednesday morning to a warm reception from fans and officials, eager to congratulate them on their performance.

The Cranes touched down after what was described as a difficult but rewarding match in challenging weather conditions.

Heavy rain had impacted the game, but Uganda showed resilience and determination to secure all three points, thanks to goals from Denis Omedi and a deflection off South Sudan’s Alfred Leku from a Jude Ssemugabi header.

The Cranes, who now sit atop Group K with 10 points, need just one more point from their remaining two games to secure a place at AFCON 2025.

They are set to face South Africa in Kampala on November 15, followed by a final group stage match away to Congo.

The players will now return to their respective clubs to continue the regular season.
