Kitara’s Brian Ssenyondo Optimistic Ahead of Must Win Mbarara City Clash

Kitara Football Club head coach Brian Ssenyondo has expressed confidence in his side’s ability to return to winning ways as they prepare for a crucial Uganda Premier League encounter against Mbarara City at Kakyeka Stadium on Friday.

The match follows a difficult run for Kitara, who have gone three games without a victory.

“We go to Mbarara hoping to return to winning ways after going 3 games without a win,” Ssenyondo stated ahead of the fixture.

He believes the international break came at an ideal time, allowing the team to reassess their performance and identify areas for improvement.

“The international break came at a good time. It helped us re-evaluate and look at some of the areas where we can improve. We’ve worked a lot in the break and now will be looking to take our chances when we get them,” he said.

Key to Kitara’s preparations is the potential return of Denis Omedi and Jude Ssemugabi, who were part of the Uganda Cranes squad that completed a successful doubleheader against South Sudan during the international break. Omedi found the net in Uganda’s 2-1 victory in Juba, while Ssemugabi contributed an assist in the same match.

“They are very important players on our team,” Ssenyondo acknowledged.

However, he tempered expectations about their immediate impact, citing fatigue from their international duties.

“I do not think they are ready to play 90 minutes given all the travel they have had with the national team. I am confident they will play a part in the game against Mbarara City. Possibly they will come on somewhere in the game.”

Kitara will look to improve their current standing where they sit 12th on the table with just 3 points.
