Former Lugazi Football Club head coach Sadick Sempigi has issued a statement following his departure from the club, expressing his gratitude to the players, staff, and fans.
Sempigi’s tenure came to an end on Friday after the club’s poor start to the Uganda Premier League season, which saw them fail to register a win in their opening five matches.
In his statement, Sempigi reflected on his time at the club, describing the journey as one filled with growth and memorable experiences.
“As I step away from my role as head coach of Lugazi, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the players, staff, and fans,” Sempigi said. “It has been an incredible journey filled with growth and unforgettable moments. I wish the club all the best in the future.”
Sempigi’s departure was announced by the club on Friday, with both parties citing a mutual agreement to part ways.
The decision comes as Lugazi struggles at the bottom of the table, with two draws and three losses in five matches.
Lugazi has since appointed Mbekeka Oliver as interim coach while they search for a permanent replacement. The club thanked Sempigi for his efforts and wished him success in his future coaching endeavors.
Sempigi, who took over as head coach during Lugazi’s rise to the Uganda Premier League, will now look to the next chapter in his coaching career, while Lugazi aims to turn their season around under new leadership.
