KCCA decisively ended a four-year winless streak against Maroons, delivering an impressive 5-0 victory at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Thursday.
Ashraf Mugume, Abubaker Mayanja, Saidi Mayanja, Shafik Nana Kwikiriza, and Sadat Anaku netted the goals for KCCA.
This commanding win marks KCCA’s first triumph over the Prison Warders since they last defeated them 2-1 at the same venue in February 2020.
From the outset, KCCA set an aggressive pace, showcasing their dominance in both possession and offensive play.
Their performance demonstrated a level of cohesion and renewed focus that had been lacking in recent matchups against Maroons.
The win not only highlights their current form but also serves as a turning point in the Uganda Premier League where they are unbeaten after seven games and top of the standings with 17 points.
This victory is particularly significant as Maroons had previously managed to remain unbeaten against KCCA in their last four encounters, securing two wins and two draws.
At that time, KCCA was managed by Mike Mutebi, while Maroons were led by Douglas Bamweyana.
The result not only boosts KCCA’s morale but also signals their commitment to maintaining consistency and pursuing higher aspirations this season.
