Young Africans (Yanga SC) claimed a convincing 2-0 victory over Namungo in an away match held at Majaliwa Stadium in Ruangwa, Lindi, on Saturday.
Despite the strong performance, the club’s key player, Khalid Aucho who is also the Uganda Cranes captain, was notably absent due to an injury he sustained during Uganda’s recent match against Congo in Brazzaville.
Yanga’s head coach, Saed Ramovic, expressed his satisfaction with the win, which he described as a much-needed return to form for the defending champions.
“We are heading in the right direction. The players are gradually finding their rhythm,” Ramovic said.
Despite the absence of Khalid Aucho, who continues to recover from his injury, Ramovic praised his team’s resilience and highlighted their positive attitude. “What they need now is to approach every practice like a game,” he added.
The victory sees Yanga maintain their push for the top of the table, with the team currently sitting in third place, three points behind leaders Azam.
They will face MC Alger away in the CAF Champions League on Saturday 7th December.
