The Gazelles lost to Egypt 74–65, losing the game by a 9-point difference.
The Gazelles came into the game with the intention of winning and qualifying, but they made several errors, including many turnovers, and yet the Egyptian side was the better side defensively, picking up all their baskets right away and grabbing a number of three-pointers in the game.

The game was tightly contested, at least in the first two quarters. Egypt claimed the first quarter by a point, 20-19, but it was in the second quarter that the hosts stepped up.

Raneem Elgedaway’s double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds, along with Radawa Salem Ahmed Sherif’s 16 points and five rebounds, lifted the Egyptians.
On the side of the Gazelles, Brenda Ekone led with 25 points and seven rebounds, followed by Jannon Jaye Otoo’s 14 points and eight rebounds.

Egypt winning the qualifiers tournament means that they have taken the only spot that the countries we’re competing to qualify for, and they will be available for the Afrobasket in Kigali this year in July.

In an earlier contest for the third-place position, Kenya faced off with South Sudan and beat them 64–30. This win means that Kenya took third place at the FIBA Zone V Afrobasket qualifiers.
