Pirates Champions of Nile Special Rugby League

Ivan Magomu and his fellow Sea Robbers emerged champions of the 2023 Nile Special Rugby League on Saturday, ending the 5-year trophy drought after a 7-23 as Saturday was on fire at legends.
The black pirates showed determination during the final game and executed a game plan that the Kobs failed to understand and copy.
The Poetry in Motion boys conceded two early penalties that drained them mentally and lacked composure.
According to Kobs head coach Brian Makalama, lack of composure was one of the reasons that made them bottle the game.

Kob’s lack of coordination in the second half cost them two tries, and this helped Marvin Odongo’s charges win the league.
The Stanbic Black Pirates looked more determined to win the league even though most sports analysts had not counted on them as title contenders, but beating Platinum Credit Heathens home and away gave them a bigger green light to keep fighting till the end.

The Sea Robbers raced off in jubilation following Aredo’s conversion, making Karim Arinaitwe’s late attempt only a minor consolation.

According to many analysts, this has so far been one of the good and highly competitive seasons that saw some changes in the usual Platinum Credit Heathens dominance in the past, as they ended up in 3rd position this season.
The season ending saw Rams Rugby relegated out of the league as they failed to win even a single game, and many think this could be a bad setback for the club and they might not come back to the Nile Special League soon.

NBS Sport gave coverage of the Nile Special rugby finals as a promise to continue championing Ugandan sport, something that had not been done for the sport of rugby before in Uganda.
