Manchester United Reacts to Allegations Against Antony

Manchester United has acknowledged its awareness of the allegations against Antony and has recognised  ongoing police investigations into the matter. In response to this evolving situation, the club has communicated its decision to withhold further comments until more information becomes accessible.

Additionally, Manchester United has stressed its commitment to treating these allegations with the utmost gravity and has expressed deep concern about the potential impact of these accusations and the resulting media coverage on survivors of abuse.

Antony was excluded from the Brazil squad on Monday due to fresh allegations of domestic violence against the Manchester United player. Initially, he was named as part of the squad for CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying matches against Bolivia and Peru but was subsequently removed from international duty following the Brazil Football Confederation’s (CBF) acknowledgment of allegations that require investigation.

The allegations of domestic violence were initially raised by Antony’s ex-girlfriend in June, and further allegations from her were made public on Monday. The CBF issued a statement regarding this development, stating: ‘In light of the facts made public on Monday involving Manchester United player Antony, which require investigation and in the interest of protecting the alleged victim, the player, the Brazilian team, and the CBF, the organization announces that the athlete has been withdrawn from the Brazilian team.’
