Olympic medallist Fred Kerley, 29, was arrested in Miami for allegedly punching his former girlfriend and fellow Olympian Alaysha Johnson.
The incident reportedly happened at a Dania Beach hotel on Thursday, before the Grand Slam Track meeting.
Reuters and CBS report Kerley was charged with “battery-touch or strike.” He appeared in court Friday and was released on a $1,000 bond. His attorney expects a quick dismissal.
Grand Slam Track confirmed Kerley’s arrest and stated he would not compete this weekend. Johnson, 28, was also scheduled to compete.
Kerley, Paris 2024 100m bronze medallist and Tokyo 2020 silver medallist, was due to race the 100m and 200m in Miami.
