Wydad Casablanca coach Amine Benhachem is confident his team will compete fiercely with European champions Manchester City in their FIFA Club World Cup opener.
Despite being clear underdogs against Pep Guardiola’s side, Benhachem declared, “We have our chances. We have our way of playing and we can at least compete.”
Wydad, a North African football giant and recent CAF Champions League winner, is in Group G alongside Manchester City, Juventus, and Al Ain.
Benhachem acknowledged the difficulty, stating, “It is going to be a difficult match, let’s not kid ourselves – Manchester City, enough said.”
He added that his team, despite a disappointing domestic season, is ready to make it tough for their opponents.
“The intensity will be there and we do have our own ambitions… We are ready and we have surprises for our opponents,” Benhachem concluded.
