Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed the signing of England Under-21 international Jarell Quansah from Liverpool on a five-year contract.
While financial details were not disclosed, British media suggest the deal for the 22-year-old defender could be worth up to £35 million ($47.92 million), including add-ons.
Quansah, a product of Liverpool’s academy, made 58 senior appearances for the Reds and was part of England’s U21 European Championship-winning squad this year.
Leverkusen Sporting Director Simon Rolfes praised Quansah as “one of England’s most promising centre-backs. He’s quick, agile and a good footballer.”
The signing comes after a busy period for Leverkusen, who finished second in the Bundesliga.
They recently appointed Erik ten Hag as head coach and sold Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz to Liverpool, with Wirtz’s transfer alone fetching £100 million.
