Rwanda’s Celestine Nsanzuwera claimed the 2025 Johnnie Walker Uganda Professional Open title after holding off a strong field at Lugazi Hills and Country Club on Saturday.
The 33-year-old sealed victory with a four-round total of 278, finishing three shots clear of Kenya’s Njoroge Kibugu. Nsanzuwera’s decisive move came in Friday’s third round when he fired a sizzling six-under-par 65 to leapfrog veteran Dismas Indiza and open a two-stroke cushion. He closed with a steady one-under 71 to secure the championship.
Kibugu carded 74, 68, 69 and 70 for a 281 total to finish second, while Cameroon’s Pristhy Fon Nji surged with a final-round 66 to claim third at 282.
“Coming into this tournament I expected to win because I just won two tournaments in a row so I thought to myself that it could be possible to win this one as well,” Nsanzuwera said after lifting the trophy.
The professional category carried a total prize purse of 150 million Ugandan shillings, attracting elite players from across the region to the par-71 Lugazi Hills course.
