Brentford FC has confirmed a significant blow, announcing that attacker Fabio Carvalho has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025-26 season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
The 23-year-old will require surgery and face a lengthy rehabilitation, marking him as the second Brentford player this campaign to suffer a season-ending ACL tear (after Antoni Milambo in October).
The injury deepens Carvalho’s already difficult stint at the club since joining from Liverpool in 2024. He has struggled for regular league starts under manager Keith Andrews but had shown promise in the EFL Cup (two goals, one assist).
The news also ends speculation about a potential January loan move to clubs like Sunderland or Leeds United.
Carvalho must now focus on recovery before reassessing his future at Brentford, where he still has four years left on his contract.
