President Samia Fulfills Promise, Rewards Simba After Win Over Jwaneng Galaxy

Tanzania’s President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, fulfilled her promise over the weekend by awarding Simba  Tanzania TSh 5 million ($1,968) for each goal they scored against Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy FC in their final CAF Champions’ League group match. The Tanzanian football giants went on to thrash Jwaneng Galaxy FC 6-0, securing a spot in the quarterfinals.

The president’s promise was promptly fulfilled after a bag of money was immediately brought to the stadium following the full-time whistle to reward the players for their win.

President Samia Suluhu has been active in sports development in Tanzania since she assumed office. It should be noted that in 2023, she directed the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Sports to ensure two state-of-the-art stadiums are constructed ahead of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027, as they are part of the Pamoja AFCON initiative.
