Uganda Claims Five Medals at African Youth Games in Luanda

Uganda finished the 4th African Youth Games in Luanda with five medals after picking up two silvers and three bronzes across athletics, breakdance and table tennis.

The standout moment came in athletics where Baskaline Cherotwo claimed silver in the 1500m, continuing Uganda’s strong tradition in middle distance events.

The other silver was delivered by George Ntulume in breakdance, a result that marked Uganda’s first ever medal in the sport at the African Youth Games and one of the country’s most notable breakthroughs of the competition.

Bronze medals followed in both track and indoor sports. Keren Chelimo secured third place in the women’s 3000m, adding another podium finish for Uganda’s runners.

In table tennis, Joseph Sebatindira and Jemimah Nakawala each earned bronze in the singles events before combining to win another bronze in the team competition, capping an impressive outing for Uganda in the sport.

The five medal haul brought Uganda’s campaign to a positive close, highlighted by historic success in breakdance and consistent performances across multiple disciplines.
