The Uganda Women’s National Cricket Team etched their names into history by clinching the inaugural Easter Women’s T20 Cup. The tournament culminated in a high-stakes final at Entebbe Cricket Oval, where the hosts capped off a flawless unbeaten campaign.
The USA won the toss and opted to field, aiming to put the Pearls under early pressure. Uganda posted 101/5 in their 20 overs, with skipper Janet Mbabazi leading from the front.
Her composed 31 off 36 balls kept the scoreboard moving despite wickets falling. Rita Musamali added an unbeaten 21, while Malisa Ariokot’s explosive 13 off 5 balls gave Uganda crucial momentum.
Defensive Masterclass
Chasing 102, the USA batters struggled against disciplined Ugandan bowling and were bowled out for 90 in 19 overs, handing the Pearls an 11-run victory.
Immaculate Nakisuuyi starred with 4/17 to earn Player of the Match, supported by Irene Mutonyi’s 3/15. Despite resistance from Isani Waghela (19 off 19) and opener Sainavi Kambalapalli (18 off 23), the visitors could not withstand the relentless attack.

– Best Batter: Rita Musamali, for her consistent middle-order contributions.
– Best Bowler: USA skipper Aditiba Indrajitsinh Chudasama, for leading her side’s attack with precision.

The finale was graced by US Ambassador to Uganda, His Excellency William Popp, underscoring the growing profile of women’s cricket in the region and strengthening ties between the two nations through sport.
