FIFA has imposed a late ban on fans bringing refillable water bottles into 2026 World Cup stadiums, reversing earlier rules that allowed empty containers up to one liter.
The governing body said the move was for safety, noting several venues already restrict outside bottles. Hydration stations, misting areas, and cooling tents will be provided, while bottled water will be sold at standard event prices.
The change comes as experts warn of extreme heat risks, with 26 matches expected to be played in conditions where Wet Bulb Globe Temperature exceeds 26°C.
