Weatherhead and Swans Dominate 2024 National Hockey League After Week 2

As the 2024 National Hockey League enters its third week, Weatherhead for the Men’s division and Kampala Swans for the Women’s division continue to assert their dominance atop the standings.

In the men’s matches, Wananchi displayed their prowess with an emphatic 8-1 victory over Makerere, securing the 4th position with 3 points, while Makerere languishes at the bottom without any points.

Kampala Hockey Club asserted their dominance with a resounding 10-0 win against Titans, placing them 3rd in the standings.

The Badgers continued their meteoric rise with a 4-1 victory over Rockets, solidifying the 2nd position with 6 points.

Weatherhead maintained their stronghold at the top, defeating Thunders 11-1, with Thomas Opio emerging as the top scorer with an impressive tally of 7 goals.

City Lions secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Originals, placing them 6th in the standings.

In the women’s division, Weatherhead showcased their superiority with an overwhelming 11-0 victory over Thunders, securing the 2nd position in the standings.

Wananchi HDF (juniors) faced a tough challenge against Wananchi, ultimately losing 2-1, placing both teams tied at 3 points, with HDF edging ahead based on goals scored.

Deliverance Church and Historicals settled for a 1-1 draw, placing them 6th and 5th respectively in the standings.

Swans continued their dominant run with a convincing 6-0 victory over Makerere, maintaining their position at the top, with Sandra Namusoke emerging as the top scorer with 5 goals.

As the league takes a brief hiatus for the Easter Cup, teams will regroup and strategize for the upcoming challenges, with Weatherhead and Kampala Swans looking to maintain their strong positions atop the standings, while contenders like the Badgers aim to continue their impressive performances and climb even higher.
