Hugo Broos’ chase for the Bafana Bafana coaching record could stall if Saturday’s Jamaica clash in Puebla is treated only as a training game.
The Belgian sits on 55 matches, four short of surpassing Shakes Mashaba’s 58. If FIFA does not recognise the Jamaica fixture, Broos may finish on 58 — level, not ahead.
Broos, who will step down after the World Cup, already holds the longest tenure as Bafana coach.
His final run includes Jamaica, then group games against Mexico (June 11), Czech Republic (June 18) and South Korea (June 24).
