Nkumba University has launched a financial appeal to support its women’s football team as they prepare for the All Africa University Games, set for August 9–16, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt.
Dr. Bbossa Sulaiman, the Vice Chancellor and head of the fundraising committee, urged stakeholders, corporate entities, alumni, sports lovers, and well-wishers to contribute towards the team’s campaign. He emphasized the heavy costs involved in travel and participation.
“We face financial constraints related to air travel, accommodation, and other logistical requirements,” Bbossa explained.

The Beach Girls have already begun preparations and carry momentum into the tournament after winning the 2026 International Women’s Day Inter-University Championship.
Organized annually by the Federation of African University Sports (FASU), the games bring together top-performing university teams from across the continent.
Head coach Emmanuel Amagu expressed confidence, noting that the squad includes experienced players who have previously represented Uganda at continental competitions.
