Fulham have opened discussions with Álvaro Arbeloa as they search for a successor to Marco Silva, who has left Craven Cottage after five years to join Benfica.
Arbeloa, 43, stepped in as interim coach at Real Madrid last season, overseeing 28 matches after replacing Xabi Alonso mid‑campaign. While considered a leading candidate, insiders stress that talks remain at an early stage.
The former Spain international has spent his entire coaching career at Madrid, progressing from youth sides to the senior bench. As a player, he enjoyed two spells at the Bernabéu and also featured in the Premier League with Liverpool and West Ham.
Fulham had also explored appointing Kieran McKenna, but his £8m release clause at Ipswich Town proved a stumbling block. McKenna has since left the club, citing family reasons.
The Cottagers, who finished 11th in the Premier League last season, now face a crucial decision as they weigh Arbeloa’s candidacy against other options for the new campaign.
