Uganda Premier League outfits NEC FC and Kitara FC have intensified their pursuit of midfielder Jeromy Kirya following his recent exit from BUL FC.
Kirya, who was among the ten players released by the Eastern Giants at the end of the season, has quickly become one of the most attractive free agents on the local transfer market. Sources indicate that both clubs are assessing potential moves as they look to strengthen their squads ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Kitara FC are particularly keen to reinforce their midfield options as they prepare for a challenging season that will see them compete on both domestic and continental stages, including the CAF Confederation Cup. The Hoima-based side views Kirya as a player capable of providing stability, experience, and creativity in the centre of the park.
On the other hand, NEC FC are seeking suitable replacements following the departures of veteran midfielders Muzamir Mutyaba and Paul Mucureezi. Club officials believe Kirya possesses the qualities and top-flight experience required to bolster their midfield unit and maintain the club’s competitive ambitions.
Kirya has established himself as one of the league’s most consistent performers in recent years. His impressive displays for BUL FC previously attracted interest from Vipers SC, who monitored the midfielder closely over multiple transfer windows. However, the Venoms have since cooled their pursuit, paving the way for other clubs to enter the race.
The midfielder joined BUL FC from Busoga United in 2021 and quickly became a vital component of the club’s setup. During his spell in Jinja, he earned widespread recognition for his composure, work rate, and ability to influence games from midfield.
