Team Uganda Bags 14 Medals at EAAR U18/U20 Championships

After a remarkable performance at the East African Athletic Regional (EAAR) U18/U20 Championships held in Zanzibar from April 26th to 27th, Team Uganda has returned home triumphant, showcasing their dominance on the regional stage.

The Ugandan contingent clinched a total of 13 medals, reaffirming their status as a force to be reckoned with in the athletics arena. The team’s impressive medal haul included 7 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals.

Some of the gold medalists included, Yeko Sam in the 5000m race, Kiprop Hosea in the 1500m event, Chepkwemoi Felister in the 1500m race, Anamu Vicky in the 400m U20 event, Chebet Keziah in the 3000m race, and Vicky Chekwemboi in the 5000m event.

Omara Raymond was one of the silver medalists in the games after his impressive performance in the 800m race, Yeko Bendalin also won silver in the 3000m race with Dison Osutaa and Anamu Vicky also securing silver in the 400m U18 and 200m events, respectively.

Adilu Francis showcased his skill and determination by claiming the bronze medal in the 200m event.

The athletes’ dedication and hard work were evident throughout the championships, as they competed fiercely against their counterparts from other East African nations.
