In a historic moment for African football, it has been announced that the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup will be hosted on the continent for the first time. The prestigious tournament, set to take place between May 1 and 11, 2025, will see the Seychelles play host to teams from around the globe as they compete for beach soccer glory.
The unveiling of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Seychelles 2025™ brand was celebrated in a vibrant ceremony attended by Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan and Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) President Elvis Chetty. This marks a significant milestone as it will be the first time a Confederation of African Football (CAF) member association hosts the tournament.
The decision to award the hosting rights to the Seychelles follows the resounding success of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup UAE 2024 Dubai™, which drew an impressive crowd of over 70,000 fans. The brand launch ceremony, held at the picturesque Kempinski Seychelles Resort on Mahé Island, captured the vibrant energy of the islands with local drummers and dancers adding to the festivities.
SFF President and chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Elvis Chetty, expressed his excitement for the tournament, highlighting its potential to usher in a new era of growth and development for the Seychelles islands and the football community at large.
The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Seychelles 2025™ will mark the 13th edition of the tournament, held biennially since 2009. With the inclusion of the Seychelles as hosts, all six confederations will have staged the tournament within the span of just 12 years, reflecting FIFA’s commitment to making football truly global.
